DPNR sponsors Bow, Arrow and Basket making classes

The Division of Fish and Wildlife is sponsoring, through its Hunter education Program (Funded with Wildlife Restoration funds from USFWS), several classes to provide training in traditional outdoor skills. These classes include Bow, Arrow, and Basket making. All the classes will be held at the Mount Victory Camp, Eco-Lodge (For more information and directions to the Mount Victory Camp, Eco-Lodge see https://www.mtvictorycamp.com)

We will be following social distancing guidelines so there are limited spaces. You must signup to secure a space.

For all workshops, students should bring a lunch and water bottle.

The bow making class is a four-day, two-weekend, class. Due to our current health restrictions and available working areas there is a maximum of 7 students. Also, because of the tools used there is a minimum age, of 14 years old, to participate. The bow class schedule is:
Saturday, November 14th 10am-5pm
Sunday, November 15th 11am-5pm
Saturday, November 21st 10am-5pm
Sunday, November 22nd 11am-5pm


The basket making class is a one-day class which will be held Saturday, November 28th from 10am until 2pm. There is a 10 student maximum, and a minimum age of 10 years old.


The arrow making class is a one-day class held November 29th from 11am to 5 pm. There is a maximum of 7 students in the class and a minimum age of 14.

DFW Program Active Again

Archery is run by USVI Department of Planning and Natural ResourcesDepartment of Fish and Wildlife, funded by United States of America Fish and Wildlife Service, in cooperation with Sports Parks and Recreation if up and running again with COVID-19 safety considerations.

During the “Yellow – Safer At Home” phased re-opening of the local economy, the Isaac Gateword James Park Archery Range will be open for practice from 2 to 5 Saturday and Sunday. Until we are “Green – New Normal”, there will be a maximum of 10 persons on the field at any one time. (One range officer/instructor and 9 participants.). This means there will be 9 open lanes in which to practice. Targets will have a 15 foot separation. DFW Program Suspended

Archery is run by USVI Department of Planning and Natural ResourcesDepartment of Fish and Wildlife, funded by United States of America Fish and Wildlife Service, in cooperation with Sports Parks and Recreation has been suspended due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.

While the cancellation of this program is disappointing to its participants, we here at viarchery.org feel it is the correct decision by DFW. Please be safe and practice physical distance. We hope to see everyone when this pandemic is over.

Represent the NFAA at the 2018 IFAA World Field Championships as part of the team.


This is the last week to be considered for the IFAA World Team, the deadline is July 15th! .

The IFAA World Field Archery Championships will be hosted in South Africa from October 5 – 13, 2018. The event is going to be held at the Elgro River Lodge in Potchefstroom, North West Province, South Africa. More information is available at the event website: http://wfac2018.co.za/index.php
