4th Caribbean Beginners and Developmental Championships
World Archery Americas has sent the official invitation for the 4th Caribbean Beginners and Developmental Championships to take place in the British Virgin Islands on May 7-11, 2020.
Although the event is named the Caribbean Championships, participation is not restricted to archers from the region. Competitors from across the Americas are welcome to participate.
In 2020, this event will be opened up to registrations from archery clubs as well as National Federations.
The competition will feature a Developmental category for the second year. Archers competing in this category shoot at 50 meters (recurve at 122cm faces, compound at 80cm faces with 5-10 scoring zones) without any limitations to the normal rules on equipment.
Registration deadlines:
• Preliminary registration (number of participants per category): February 7th, 2020
• Final registration (names of participants in each category): April 7th, 2020
For the Caribbean Beginners and Developmental Championships both the Recurve and Compound Competitions (beginners and developmental) will be held in the following categories:
Cub Men: Archers born in 2006 or after
Cub Women: Archers born in 2006 or after
Cadet Men: Archers born in 2003 or after
Cadet Women: Archers born in 2003 or after
Junior Men: Archers born in 2000 or after
Junior Women: Archers born in 2000 or after
Men: No age Limit
Women: No age Limit
Competition Format for the Caribbean Beginners and Developmental Championships
Recurve Bow – Beginners
Qualification Round 30m Round (72 arrows) (80 cm Target)
Elimination and Finals Rounds Set system at 30 meters
Recurve Bow – Developmental
Qualification Round 50m Round (72 arrows) (122 cm target)
Elimination and Finals Rounds Set system at 50 meters
Compound Bow – Beginners
Qualification Round 30m Round (72 arrows) (80 cm Target)
Elimination and Finals Round 15 arrow matches
Compound Bow – Developmental

Exceptional Beginners Category – archers born in 2010 or later: Will shoot at 15 meters on 80cm target faces.
In the beginners’ categories the competition will consist of:
➢ A Qualification Round of 72 arrows shot at 30 meters with 80cm target faces (1-10 scoring zones). Ends of 6 arrows shot in 4 minutes. (For both recurve and compound)
➢ An individual Elimination and Finals Round at 30 meters with 80cm target faces (1- 10 scoring zones). Set system for the recurve division, and 15 arrow cumulative score for the compound division.
➢ A mixed Team Round. Teams to be formed by a man and a woman in the same age group and bow type, but not necessarily from the same country.
➢ Age categories may need to be combined depending on the number of participants registered.
In all of the developmental categories the competition will consist of:
➢ A Qualification Round of 72 arrows shot at 50 meters with 122cm target faces for the recurve categories, and 72 arrows shot at 50 meters with 80 cm faces (5-10 scoring zones). Ends of 6 arrows shot in 4 minutes.
➢ An individual Elimination and Finals Round at 50 meters with the respective target faces for recurve and compound as explained above. Set system for the recurve division, and 15 arrow cumulative score for the compound division.

To prepare, the St. Croix practice range will have (72 arrow) scoring sheets available and will have targets at 30 and 50 meters.
